LADAKH TOUR WITH RUMTSE TO TSOMORIRI LAKE TREK.   15N/16D

Descriptions: Rumtse to Tsomoriri lake trek is famous for its unique features like high arid plains, Changpa nomads, high pasturelands, snow-capped peaks and the lakes. The starting point of the Trek is Rumtse village (4100m) which is approximately 70 kms from Leh. The route traverses across a number of high passes and areas which has an important wildlife sanctuary, harboring snow leopards and wild asses, as well as various species of birds, such as the black necked crane. The destination of the trek- Tsomoriri Lake is situated in Changthang ‘the nomadic highland” on eastern part of Ladakh border of Tibet and is one of the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-Himalayan bio-geographic region, entirely within India.

Day 01: Delhi Arrival

On arrival at Airport / Railway station, meet our representative and proceed to Hotel for Check in. Delhi is a city built and re-built seven times over several centuries. The capital city today marries the quaint and unique elements of different historical eras with the pace of the bustling, growing economy. At every turn of the road, the past and the present coexist. Later proceed for city Tour of NEW DELHI - drive past the stately government buildings of the British Era designed by Lutyen’s, including the Indian Gate & the Presidential Palace.  Continue onto the beautiful Humayun’s tomb of the Mughal era & thereafter visit the towering minaret of Qutab Minar. Overnight at Hotel

Day 02: Fly Delhi to Leh at KushokBakula Airport.

Leh to Delhi flight is of 1 hour and it’s takes you through busy urbanization of Delhi to snow capped mountains of great Himalayan range. You can see the grand panoramic view of Nun-Kun massif of Zanskar range, the sub ranges of Himalaya Range and K2 massif of great Karakorum Range and barren desert of landscape of Ladakh.  Upon arrival at KushokBakula Airport Leh, our representative will welcome you and transfer to Hotel. We recommend you complete rest at Hotel as it essential at the height of Leh(3500 meters) and only light walk to the market at evening if  you like to do. Overnight at Leh .

Day 03: Indus valley tour.

Full day sightseeing to Hemis Monastery- one of the largest and richest monastery of Ladakh, Shey palace- the ancient capital of Leh, Druk white lotus school of 3 idiot fame and Stok palace- current residence of Namgyal king of Ladakh. O/N at Leh.

Day 04: Half day hiking to adjacent villages of Leh city.

This day is meant to provide an opportunity to get a feel of Leh city, its adjacent villages and prepare you for trek, to the Leh Palace, which houses old relics that belong to the sixteenth century ruler of Ladakh, you can go for leisure walk around Leh old town (3500m) including a visit to Leh Gompa Soma and Central Asian Museum .Overnight stay at Leh in Hotel.

Day 05: Trek from Rumtse to Kyamar village 4520 (4-5 hrs trek)

Drive till Rumtse village (70 Km), and start your first day trek through beautiful gorge towards Kyamar village, which is a shepherds’ village. After continue walking for some time we would cross two small stream leading to a green small pasture with number of Marmots. We set our tent/ camp here for overnight halt.

Day 06: Trek from to Kyamarvillage(4520) toTitsaling over Kyamari-La Pass (5180mtrs) and Mandalchan-La Pass (5170 Mtrs) 6-7 hrs trek.

Start your trek earlier to cross Kyamari-la and Mandalchan-La Passes. Easy walk for an hour then ascend towards Kyamar La (5180 m). From the top of the pass you can see the amazing view of the chain of Kangyatse Snow covered peak (6400 m) and the panoramic Indus valley. After crossing this pass, take right hand side and descend towards the summer camp. Then again easy ascend to the Mandalchan-la pass (5170 m). From this top, you have fantastic view of array of picturesque snow capped peaks. Then descend upto the camp.

Overnight at Titsaling camp in a tent. (4950m)

Day 07: Trek from Titsaling to Pangunagu /Tsokar Lake over Shingbuk-La Pass (5230 mtrs) 6-7 hrs trek

Today, you have only one pass to cross so it is going to be fairly easy day.  After breakfast, start ascending towards the Shingbuk-la pass (5230 m). From the top, you can see the panoramic view of Tsokar Lake, surrounding mountains and the Rupshu valley. At the end of the valley, you can see group of wild Ass (Skyang), turn right and ascend for 20 minutes. Here you can see the full view of the Tsokar Lake and winter camp of nomadic people of Changthang region.

Overnight at camp/tent. (4590m) 

Tsokar Lake is approximately 95 km. northwest of the Tsomoriri Lake at a height of (4,590m). It is also called "White Lake" because of the salt deposited around it- this is because there is no outlet from the lake which makes the water brackish. In ancient times, local nomads – Changpas traded this salt with the people from other part of Ladakh .Tsokar Lake is breeding grounds for a variety of birds among them the bar-headed goose, the great crested grebe, the Brahmin duck and the brown headed gull.

Day 08: Trek from Pangunagu to Nuruchan village (6 Hours)

Today you have easy trek along the right side of the Lake. On the way you can see many birds and Wild Ass (Skyang) of Ladakh and Tibetan plateau. After leaving the lake behind, you turn towards right side and enter the Nuruchan village with beautiful camping site near the stream.

Overnight at camp/tent. (4660m)

Day 09: Trek from Nuruchan to Rachungkaruover Horlam-La Pass (4900m) ( 5-6 Hours)

Today you have small pass Horlam-La Pass (4900m) to cross. It is an easy ascent and takes about 50 minutes. After crossing the pass you reach Rachungkaru where you find nomadic camp of Tibetan refugees. At Rachungkaru, you can interact with nomads and see their life style. In this area they have plenty of Yaks, Sheep and Pashmina Goats.

Overnight at camp/tent. (4900m)

Day 10: Trek from Rachungkaru to GyamarBarma over Kyamayuri-La Pass (5430 mtrs) and Kartse-La Pass (5380 mtrs) 6-7 hrs trek.

From the campsite you have to walk through the camp of nomadic people, then start ascending towards  Kyamayuri-la (5300m). It is an easy to ascend and it takes about more than an hour to reach at the top of the pass. From the pass; you can see splendid landscape of Tsokar- Korzok area. After that you would start walking down to the summer pasture of Tibetan refugee camp, called Gyamar Burma, continue walking and on the right side you will find another small pass Kartse-la (5000m) to cross and after easy descend then arrive in Gyamar, which has a nomadic camp.

Overnight at camp/tent at Gyamar. (5180m)

Day 11: Trek from Gyamar to Korzok village over YarlungNyau-La pass (5440m). 7-8 hours

Morning, after breakfast continue trek to Korzok. Today we have one pass to cross called YarlungNyaula (5440m) and can be crossed with an easy ascend keeping right from the camping up to the top of the pass. Upon reaching the summit, Steep yet easy descends and then arrives at KorzokPhu (summer grazing pasture of Nomadic). You still have more than 30 minutes of trek from here, pass the KorzokPhu and continue along the small river up to Korzok near Tsomoriri Lake. Arrive at camp. (4620m)

Day 12: Rest day at Korzok. Hike around lake and visit Korzok monastery.

After breakfast visit 300 year old Korzok Monastery which is situated on the western bank of Tsomoriri Lake and walk around the Lake which is a breeding grounds for a variety of birds among them the bar-headed goose, the great crested grebe, the Brahmini duck and the brown headed gull. Overnight at Camp.

Day 13: Korzok to Leh.

Morning after breakfast drive fromTsomo-riri lake towards Leh (230 km) by passing Chumathang (Hot Spring) along the Indus river. O/N at Leh.

Day 14: Full day rest at Leh. Overnight at Leh.

Day 15: Sham Valley tour 

After breakfast drive towards Sham valley- also known as apricot valley, Enroute visit Indus- Zanskar confluence (Sangam), Magnetic Hill, Likir monastery- which have a Giant Statue of Maitriya Buddha, Alchi monastery- renowned for famous fresco paintings belonging to 11th century and hike around the beautiful Alchi Village and reach Lamayuru, visit Lamayuru monastery which belong to the DrikungKargyud monastic order and after that during sunset drive to a hill top to watch  sun setting over the Monastery with Moonland landscape in its backdrop. Drive back to Leh via same route. O/N stay at Leh.

Day 16: Morning 6Am flight back to Delhi your memorable tour ends here.
